    Hi,

I'm not really into the various Pixar animations but I suppose I should have at least one in the collection just to amaze my friends with the incredible picture quality (and sound ?). So which one should it be - Shrek2, Antz, The Incredibles ? I'm sure there are others but I don't even know the titles of them. What do you suggest ? One only !

    Cheers

    Ray

(Ps. - not the Little Mermaid - pleez!)

Monsters Inc, for me is the greatest cgi movie out there. It has nothing to do with the visuals though, even though stunning :) the story/dialogue is engrossing :)

Finding Nemo, the colours are stunning. Its a crisp animation. Monsters Inc has it all the way for storyline though.

It's between Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo & the Incredibles. I'd say Finding Nemo for picture & the Incredibles for the film. Monsters Inc scores highly in each area and is the best all rounder IMO. They are all great though and are all worth owning. You won't be disapointed if you purchase any of them.

I also like the Toy Stories as well and the Pixar box set is a good buy but is rather pricey!

Incredibles! Its just amazing. 100percent digital so no flaws in the picture.
Sound is good too, but the picture is where its at.

I haven't linked you there because it's the cheapest, just because it's the first place I looked that had a pic of it.... :smashin:

Any Pixar discs will have flawless pictures - but for sound, you have to for Monsters Inc. You get a DD5.1 AND a DTS Soundtrack - there's also a commentary track. But the best track is the 5.1 Sound Effects track. No dialouge and no music - just the sounds of opening doors, feet running down coridors, clocks ticking etc. It's a great way to show of the positioning of your surround sound.

I suppose it really depends what you want to test for although I agree that for picture then any would be fine.. Monsters Inc certainly has more protracted "action" sequences and is lots of fun. Finding Nemo has a few phenomenally loud pieces but is really a stunning exercise in ambience - the soundtrack (and picture) really give me the impression of being tiny in a very big ocean. Plus there's Darla

I personally didn't like The Incredibles as a film and the score just really irritated me. For out-and-out action though it's definitely the one to go for. :)

    For me....

Best Picture quality = Monsters Inc
    Best Sound = Incredibles
    Best film = Incredibles

However, Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo didn't do it for me as films. They are far too 'kiddy' for me.

If I could only buy one of them, it would be Incredibles.
Its a an excellent film with stunning picture and an awsome soundtrack.

In second place, I'd go for Shrek or Shrek 2.

Just when MI was about to be declared the winner The Incredibles come up on the rails with the rest just behind. The comments about MI and FN being too 'kiddy' might swing it. Can't get into kids films like I used to- yes I'm getting old!

BUT based on comments so far I will be getting MI, FN and The Incredibles (not many votes for Shrek2, I thought that would romp home)

    Cheers

I found The Incredibles to be easily the most "kiddy" film of the bunch. The trailer for it on the Finding Nemo disc easily surpasses the actual feature IMO.

Disagree there, whilst it had a slow middle, the beginning and end of the film were superb. The story was probably one of Pixar's best and tackled many 'mature' issues.

However saying that, I don't know if I enjoyed it more than Finding Nemo. loved the 'boundin' short though - really cheers you up

Agreed, that was a very nice surprise when they showed it before the feature at the cinema.

Bound, bound, bound and rebound. :D

As an action test disc The Incredibles is certainly one of the best though. :)

What happened to Ice Age? Is that not Pixar or Dreamworks?

Finding Nemo was just to kiddie-fied for me. Incredibles was a major dissapointment. It had great visuals but a poor story. Brad Birds The Iron Giant is a much much better film. Monsters Inc still gets my vote as greatest cgi movie out there, followed by Toy Story

I vote for the Incredibles, I concur with the daily mail film reviewer who said it was the finest animated film ever made, it's an amazing achievement especially using human characters. I've seen nearly all the cgi films and the only stuff that comes anywhere near Pixar's animation in terms of story and character design is Jap anime, things like Spirited Away are masterpieces. I don't like Dreamworks stuff half as much though, Shrek doesn't really interest me and don't even get me started on tosh like Shark Tale. Dreamworks didn't make Ice Age though, Ice Age and Robots are both done by Blue Sky Studios.
