Let us suppose that a friend who does not own a VCR asks me to tape something for him. Clearly VHS itself is a profoundly limited medium, but within the limitations of VHS, and assuming a good quality VCR, what brand (and what specific "model") of VHS tape is likely to produce the best possible playback?
Looking for something with low noise, good signal strength, no drop-outs.... Long lifetime would be helpful too, but good recording quality in the short term is more important.
