IMO for budget a 42PHD8 Panny wouldnt bother with the speakers tho an AMP and a decent pair of stereo speakers will sound a lot better

but better to ask why you are selling a 12 month old Hitachi

replacing 5200e because plasma tv,s are getting better for the same money, mine although only one year old is in fact nearer a two and a half year old model, so i would expect latest state of the art to be better .

There's little doubt you are right, as long as you can afford it. The 'e' model is not HD ready either. There are as many answers to the question as plasmas on the market. If you try hard enough you will find someone to sing the praises of the most horrendous dog of a screen out there. FGS some people love their Tinys and Aldis! My vote goes along with HD, the PHD8. You will need to do something about sound, if you have no surround system you can use. That might well take it outside the £2k.

The Hitachi's don't come close to the Fujitsu plasmas, and it's only a few hundred more.

I'm merely stating that an extra £200 gets a much better plasma than the one mentioned for £1800. There's no way i'd buy any other plasma under that price.

Sod the missus, it's for her benefit as well!

The Panny would have to be a fair bit better than the Fujitsu for me to spend money on it. And going by the hi-def demos at Bristol, the Fujitsu's were faultless, not a spec of noise.

    And offer an equivalent warranty.....

What did you think of the 42XHA58? much better than the ALIS 42" IMO and only one year difference on the warranty eriod PHD is 2 year Fujitsu 3 year (£130 to extend to the same and you can add a Lumagen DVi to the 42PHd8 for the suggesed price of the 42XHA58 (a very interesting option.......)
