What's new on Netflix UK for August 2021 - news discussion

Transgender drama crap - tick.
Anime nonsense - tick.
Dystopian futuristic claptrap - tick.
American teen prom faux angst dross - tick.
Bonkers UFO rubbish - tick.
Badly dubbed but cheap foreign stuff - tick.

That's another £13.99 saved, so cheers for that Andy.

Was going to say, nothing to see here move along but you put it a lot better:clap:.

Wow this line up is almost as disappointing as last night's game.

Same here. That’s August’s sub cancelled…
What a load of mind numbing dross…

Hit & Run might be interesting, althought much depends on the originality of the plot, imho

I will probably watch the ufo stuff because I find it very interesting but I'm still on Parks and Recreation so it'll be a while yet.

We're right in that phase now because of the pandemic. Absolutely sod all content to offer. Was always coming.

However other streamers like Amazon and Disney seem to be managing their content much better still. Netflix just don't care.

Think this might be the month I cancel Netflix, Just lately the content has been poor for the increased price.

I've found prime far better and dont feel like I pay for that as we order a lot from amazon.

Disney has been good value too.

I just cant see paying £13.99 a month when there is hardly anything worth seeing on there lately.

To be honest - no postion from this list does ring a bell. Anything worth waiting? Any recommendations?

Gosford Park is really good if you're in the right mood. Robert Altman films are almost always an interesting watch. The Mule is a decent Clint Eastwood flick, but pales in comparison to Gran Tourino, for example.

Paddington, whilst arguably the most overrated film series in recent memory, is still a really likeable, solid 4 star family film.

Thanks a lot for sharing! I didn't even know that one of those is Robert Altman's. Will definitely watch it. Seems to be a solid idea for a Friday afternoon.

Animation, American teen angst and low quality documentaries. Appalling

And plenty of high quality foreign drama /thriller series, along with a few really excellent American made TV series.
There's still plenty of decent stuff for the money every month imo. In six months when Ive caught up it might be a different ball game however.

I am hanging onto Netflix as only £5.99 a month and usually find something to watch. Just watched The Accountant which is good and also am enjoying, although it can be annoying, Outer Banks!

I can't find anything to watch now on Prime - because of covid a lot of series seem to have been abandoned - I loved Upload, Mrs Maisel, Carnival Row, Truth Seekers and best of all The Expanse.

So my contract with Prime ends next month and I am now streaming Disneyplus as I am a Marvel fan plus lots of films for the grandchildren. I think I may run out of things in a couple on months and then I may cancel and try NOW which seems to be like getting Sky but considerably cheaper.

As a recent subscriber to Netflix, and first time streamer, I was expecting more, but I actually find myself giving up on a lot of series I start to watch. Notable exception was Queen's Gambit, which was excellent.
