20D + 28-75 Tamron. 1.4x telecon (cos its small). spare battery. mini tripod (very mini) + cable release. crumpler bag inside rucksack. laptop in rucksack + pcmcia CF adaptor. Video camera also in rucksack. along with mp3 player. All power bits chargers etc in the suitcase.
If I had a wide lens that would go as well. Took the kit lens once for 18mm end but hardly used it.

I've only got my 20D, my low pro bag and two lenses. When i had my 16-35 it even came with me (along with my primes) if i was going for a pub lunch somewhere let alone a holiday. So basically i'd leave nothing behind, myself

Ok, sorta what I was after :) .

    What I am thinking of taking;
    EOS 350
    Speedlite 420
28-135mm lens + polarising filter + lens hood
    Kit lens
    remote shutter control
    Mini tripod
    Spare battery
    charger
    Bag + manuals
    2 * 1GB CF cards

What am I missing if anything ?

    I will not be taking;
Laptop - the other half now has it
portable storage - I'll get more cards when there if I really need to.

    Thanks
    RB

Well we don't know what you have;) I took my kit lens to Edinburgh for a week and never used it once. Since sold it, so i'd leave that behind but then you're not me. I don't know if you'll need the flash on your holidays, i guess you're going somewhere where the days are long ect . But then i'm in to available light so only you know if you'll need it.

Make sure you're coverd by insurance for abroad.

On my recent holiday to California, I didn't take my proper camera bag..

I had a quite small old one to take my 300D with kit lens attached.

    Charger and spare batteries.
    Plug adaptor for the USA
    All my memory cards.
    Microfibre cloth.
    Small puffer brush.
100-400L went in its own case.

All fitted into my hand luggage bag with all my 'normal' hand luggage.

    Left behind....

    Nifty fifty, 550EX, tripod.....

Canon 1D + charger and spare battery
    Canon 28-105 USM for walkabout
    Sigma 12-24 for epic landscaping
Sigma 100-300 and 1.4 telecon for... perving? lol maybe some long shots of stuff from the stratosphere tower, i'm staying there.
Pelang 8mm fisheye for funky fun
Hartblei 80mm f2.8 SuperRotator tilt shift for building shots and creative focus (not used this yet, think focal length might be a bit long!)
Sigma DG super 500 flash just in case
    Water bottle attachment (a godsend)
Mem cards, Laptop, CP600 portable printer for postcards to send back!
    Tripod

and the most important cam of them all:

Canon Ixus 30 which will be firmly tucked into my pocket to capture 4 days of mayhem and drinking outside of quality photo time!

If you get close enough to try the gender testing kit then it is already too late. Didn't have a problem there as most were easy to spot, apart from the ones I obviously didn't  . Helps if you have a reliable guide :D .

    Tomson.

3 cameras  , not just a holiday snapper are you. Where you off to that you think you will be needing all that kit ?.

A big thanks to Seany too :smashin: . I have now for the first time gone out and bought home insurance to make sure I am covered if the camera gets broken / stolen.

I think I will probably ditch the kit lens, possibly sell it on ebay as it is the USM version and they are making £40+ at the moment which is better than a kick in the teeth ;) .

    Keep them coming guys

    Cheers
    RB

I'm guessing here, but I think that the 350D in his travelling light kit will not be a seperate camera from the 2x350Ds in his not so light kit, so maybe just 2 cameras.

Yep that makes more sense re-reading. Only two 350d's then  . One for each eye, stereo photography. At least it will keep both hands occupied

Yeah, just the two. Usually only take them to wedding shoots but I did take them on holiday last time... with much disapproval from the wife.

    Mr Jones

A holiday is something you pay to do something you enjoy whereas working you are paid to do something you my not enjoy doing
