I will soon have in my posession the following power amps, a Rotel 1075 (5 channel), a 1066 (6 channel but only 60w) and an RB-03 (2x75 or something). I have a Denon 3803 for decoding and want to set up a 6.1 system with a centre back.

Now, do I use the 1075 for the 5.0 speakers and use one of the amps in the 3803 for the centre back?

Or, so I use the 1066 to biamp the fronts and centre front, the RB-03 for the surrounds and the Denon again doing the centre back.

I must point out that music is my priority and wondered if anyone had any views on the above options. Will biamping with the 1066 be better than single amping with the 1075.

Keep in mind that cash is tight so I either keep the 1075 or the 1066/RB-03 combo and sell the other.

You could use the 1066 to the front 3 channels (biamping or bridging) and keep the Denon for the other 3 channels.

Otherwise go for the 1075.

Yeah, that's my choice. Would the fronts and front centre be better bi-amped with the 6x60w 1066 or single amped with 3 channels of the 1075? If I go with the 1066, I have an RB-03 for the surrounds.

My biased opinion (cause i have one) is that if that is an option, don't hesitate....

My other option is to flog all the Rotels and get a Parasound 1205a.

In sound and build quality terms, the Parasound would also get my vote.....in this country they're seriously under-rated,and haven't yet gained the exposure they should have, whilst in the US it's a different matter.

Very nice, smooth sound, with plenty of reserve, across the range.

If I had the choice i'd listen to some music using both the 1075 and the 1066 bi amped.

Have you considered bi-amping L and R with the 1075 and using the centre on the other 1075 channel then using the 1066 to run the rears. Depending on how many you could use all sort of combinations two bridged and two singe.. etc...

Seriously experiment but 1075 bi-amped for fronts would be good :)

DOH, ok I didn't spot the sell the other bits...
Is it 5 one if so could still bi-amp fronts with 1075 and sell 1066 but use 03 for rears.

Can still sell the 03 anyway :)

Yeah, I listen to a lot of SACD though so rear speakers important too. Looking at the build of the 1066 I'm going to go for the 1075 straight for the time being and sell the 1066 and RB-03. I can use an amp in the 3803 for the centre back which I'm not really fussed about.

My aim is to get something like an Arcam P7 so I can biamp the fronts.

I run my 1075 bi-amped front l/r and the centre. and use two rb980's to run the 4 surrounds.
Bi-amping the l/r was an improvement.

I am getting either a rotel 1068/cyrus av8 and also have a 1066 power amp bought off here. Do you think its worth upgrading to a 1075?
