What do you currently reckon is the most prized item in your DVD
collection (which doesn't have to be a DVD title, but probably is)
    and please say why ?

Brazil (the Criterion). Not because of the quality of the dvd itself, although it is fantastic, but because of what the film means to me. I saw it when I was really going nowhere in my life and the film just seemed to connect with me in a really personal sense. I remember having watched it not being able to sleep that night because I was so determined that what happened to Sam would not happen to me (which logically is a pretty safe bet it has to be said!). Short version is that inside of 5 months of seeing this film I quit my job and went backpacking round the world for 9 months. Which has led me to going back to uni and I will be starting a PGCE so I can be a teacher next month!!

Now I am not saying this is all due to this film, I was in the right mental state to BE changed. But it was this film that finally tipped me over the edge and because of this no matter what format of film is available for the rest of my life I will always have a copy of this film.

Probably Alien Quadrilogy (wish I could have afforded the Head Box), but I like DVDs with a little exclusivity, i.e. the Dances With Wolves leather bound 4 disc set. I think I would have to say that my entire DVD collection has to be one of my most prized possessions. My latest 'best' DVD is Goodfellas SE, as it's one of my all time favorite films, and I've been waiting years for a decent version. Let's hope Casino is next!

Mrs Tons' R1 fight club she won in a competition signed by Pitt, Norton and Bonham-Carter.

My promo copy of "Short Circuit" that is actually Cactus Jack has a certain novelty value as well .

My R1 Wicker Man in the hinged wooden box. I love the film and the box is really great on the shelf with the "burnt in" Wicker man image (Just wish I had the commentary track on it though...but my dad has the R2 version with it on, so no great loss)

Life of Brian R1 for me. An ageless comedy that I could never get bored watching. No matter how many times I hear "He's not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy" & the opening scene with Jesus lecturing on the hill, I always crack up. Not the best transfer or the best way to show off the surround sound system, but just a quality film which I couldn't do without.

There are a few in my collection. For showing off my system it has to be Jurassic Park R2 Superbit. For childhood memories it will be Indiana Jones collection and Star wars (when it comes along in the next few weeks). And a few others like Dances with Wolves R3 4disc

    Queen's Greatest Flix 1 & 2.

Quite rare, limited promo DVD and first ever commercially pressed DVD in Europe (1997).

Star Trek : TNG - all series on R2 DVD has to be my most prized collection.

Not because they're particularly great DVDs, in fact I haven't even watched them all yet.

It's just that I always loved Star Trek to bits, and as soon as DVD became available as a format Star Trek and Star Wars were two of the things I promised I'd get myself.

And Star Wars will be arriving next month.

For the packaging ST:TNG - The Borg Cube is pretty special.

For the film itself Tunes Of Glory (Criterion) is my most prized item, as I remember seeing it as a kid in the early 70's, and being totally captivated by Alec Guinness' performance.

Mine has to be my R1 Band of Brothers tin set, watched it twice through on TV then had to wait ages for DVD release. Worth the wait though! Have watched it through a further three times since owning the discs.

    It is that good!

MY Allsop DVD Laser lens cleaner because it does a damn fine job of cleaning :)

Nothing else is too precious because i just know when the next big format arrives ( HD DVD or Blu-Ray ) i'll probably be able to get a better version of any film i currently own, fullbitrate DTS on Armageddon ? the next format might give us lossless audio on Armageddon now how cool would that be :)

I do like my Fantasia Boxed set and my Disney collectables though because some of them are now no longer available.

I have actually got more pleasure watching 24 season 3 on DVD over the course of 6 days than i have watching any film this year, maybe its because 1000 hours of entertainment for the cost of 2 new films is good value or maybe its just the thrill of watching something like that show of which i'm a fan ( enjoyed many films i just enjoyed watching 24 better )

Alien Quadrilogy for me. IMHO a great variety of "takes" coming from the same franchise. Great extra's too. Plus bought by the missus at chrimbo, even though she resents my collection with a passion. :D

Another vote for Band of Brothers region 1 in the bullet tin, with DTS sound.

Bought for me last year by me ex-wife before we split up. A lovely sentimental reminder and my favourite TV show/film ever.

Its what DVD is all about.

    Cap :)

Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas Criterion Collection Region 1, because no matter how many times I watch it, I can always laugh at it, which is a very rare thing in movies. Plus there a load of good extras.

The Godfather Boxset, because its pure class.

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly or any film of Leone's for that matter, because he the best director in the world. Its that simple.

Last but by no means least one of everyone favorites,
The Shawshank Redemption, because its good. Know what I mean.

Theres to many to put in order of favorite.
