That's a very good price for an upgraded A1SE. A mate of mine recently paid a grand for one. There's no comparison to the 3802 as the KA1SE is way ahead of it in every department. I'd snap his hand off for it. :)

Better components, chassis and power for a 5.1 amp.

However, If it were my money though I'd try to go for something more future-proof, I'd probably go for a Denon 3805 or Pioneer AX5Ai in that price range.

    I can't see why anyone would choose the 3805 over a K-A1SE.
The only thing lacking is DPLIIx and video up conversion. But in every other department, it is in a different league.

It has THX Ultra2 for a start, and is massivley better built.
As a stereo amp, its bloomin' brilliant and will drive almost any speaker package with consumate ease.

The only amp I'd replace mine with is Denons up and coming £4000 amp.
But I'm not paying that. So if you can get similar sound quality for £800....well, its a no brainer really.

    Hi Guys,

How would you rate an upgraded A1SE vs a TAG AV32R (plain vanilla version) partnered with a Rotel RB985 power amp? [both should be available for a similar price]

    Cheers

That's true, for stereo it is superb. No comparison with the Denon 3805.
