Any advice please for an All-in-one that will allow me to connect my Tosh HD-E1 player & Sky HD to it & output proper 5.1.

    I have a Panny SCHT855 but I can't seem to get proper 5.1 when connecting the HD-E1.

    Cheers

    Steve

Sony HF1000 or SS1000 should do the job.

It should work OK. These systems have 2 HDMI inputs and 1 output. They also have 2 optical & 1 coax inputs.
I have the SS1000 with a Sky HD box and LG upscaler connected via these inputs.

What's the problem with the Panny:confused: SCHT855 is a pretty good system so perhaps worth persevering here first. Explain the problem in a little more detail regarding connections etc. and see if you can get some ideas from the members here. Could save you from having to buy a new system as the 855 should do proper 5.1. Just a thought.

Well I'm connecting the ED1 via optical to the Panny.

I have selected Digital Out SPDIF Bitstream in the HD-E1 audio set up but no sound comes through the Panny, I can get 2 channel sound by selecting Digital Out SPDIF PCM.

    Thanks
    Steve

The problem is the SCHT855 can't decode DTS using the optical input, only DD. I assume the HD-E1 is outputting DTS all the time. So the Sony system will definitely decode DTS via the optical input?
