OK we are having a bit of a dilemma here.

I pre-ordered, saved and bought my boyfriend a Wii for Xmas. As we speak its by the rest of the presents, wrapped up, little tag on it, he's been going on about it for ages, been well excited, am going to get him Zelda as another little surprise for Xmas day.

We are in the middle though, of buying our first home. So far, budget wise, its been OK tho. Until today. When the solicitor phoned to say my original budget will have to increase by a few hundred plus due to some freehold landregistry whatsumajiggit.

Boyf has said (with 'brave little soldier' face) to sling Wii on Ebay, try and get our solicitors fees, he'll make do with when it gets released again.

But a) he'll have no present. and b) we'll feel bad about some parent struggling to buy it.

My gut feeling is s*d it, we'll find money for solicitors, keep the present. My head says, they're selling at a premium we could get the solicitors fees.

What would you do? I am leaning towards keeping it. Just to see his happy face on Xmas!

u will only make 100 pounds off a wii, maybe bit less, is that enough to make a dent in the fees? is so then do it, but promise to get your kid one or 2 "free" games when u clear your debts :)

Sell.... £100 is £100... Wait until January or even boxing day! and re-buy another wii... for face value... sod the solicitors too...

how often can you make £100 just like that :D

Supply & demand.... it's what keeps the world turning. I have no intention of forcing anyone to buy my wii, but if they want to pay silly money who am I to stop them

I too got lucky & picked up one today, after weighing up the pro's & cons.... come boxing day there will be something else I want to play with (yes i'm shallow).. so it's off to the auction house knowing that within a month I can buy another one for less than half price (£100 profit included).

just give him an orange & he'll be fine :smashin:

    :D

Well you are right, £100 is £100 but its not going to make much difference either way to my solicitors bill! However, it will make a difference to my boyfriend and I feel better having made the decision. Plus with ebay, it would be faffing around wouldn't it? Listing and delivering, nah, *puts it back under the tree*

christmas comes once a year, put a smile on his face, you can buy a house any day of the year (unless this house is REALLY special?)

how far is payday away? if you cant find a spare few hundred quid then i think you should reconsider buying a house, they are expensive to keep and maintain and a new boiler can easily cost a few hundred and so can a burst pipe!

Most solicitors will agree to you delaying payment of their bill for a month.

    Enjoy your Christmas.

Def keep it. They are not bringing as much anyway at the moment. If you are lucky you will make £100, more than likely you'll scrape £70. Your boyfriend will be happy, you'll all have loads of fun, borrow the money if you can or make them wait a little for the extra money - it is Christmas after all.

    Dave.

BTW My missus got me one and it's also sitting under the tree... Roll on next monday!!

Think of all the money you'll save with evenings in playing with your Wii - it's a long term investment.

    are you mad?

its an xmas present, it dosnt matter if its a piece wood, he asked for it, so as long as he's been a good boy, he should recieve.

as for the solicitors, i think all me fees are long forgotten on a credit card :hiya:

    Happy Christmas!
