I bought the Pioneer 436XDE because in my opinion it was the best plasma TV I have seen and it did everything that I wanted it to do. Had to consider Wife and kids though it had to be family friendly.

Can you buy any better for the same cash? I don't know as I have never seen a PHD8 or MXE or any other panel only setup with scalers etc.

People like MAW are your best bet on here even though he totally dislikes my TV, he still has my upmost respect for knowledge of all things plasma.

    Each to their own though.

    Cheers

    Paul

I calibrate plasmas and projectors for a living so get to see quite a lot of them! The 436 is good. If you are prepared to go down the route of a panel only (rather than a telly plasma) you can do better if ultimate picture quality is your goal. You need to hook up with a real specialist who will help you to get the right panel / source equipment / inter-connects / remote to make it easily useable. If you reveal roughly where you are suggestions as to where to go to get this advice will be forthcoming.
