I am looking for a media player/streamer which will do the following:
    1. Play mpg, wmv and Divx also WMA
    2. Must be able to connect a external USB 1tb western digital HD and play files from that.
    3. Have a nice user interface, would also like it to have thumbnail image view, (like media center)

Also a few other things would be nice if it was HD with HDMI port.
Built in wifi, maybe access to some online services!!

If anybody knows of anything out there (other than the PCH) I would thank you for some advice.

I use a PS3 to play avi, vob, mpg, wmv xvid and Divx also WMA WAV and MP3.
It has a 320GB internal drive and 1TB Samsung external USB.
It plays CDs, DVDs and Bluray and anything streamed from my PC using TVersity.
It has HDMI, component, and RGB video.
    It has optical out.

Don't know if that is suitable for any of your needs?

I'm not 100% sure what you want to use this for. Maybe something like a Popcorn Hour A-100 would do the trick?

Yes I have tried the popcorh hour, really didnt get on with this. I was really looking for something with a nice GUI, The dlink DSM-330 looked spot in terms of nice GUI good price, but it doesnt suppot external hdd and as far as I can tell wont play mpeg files. I want the girlfriend to be able to use what ever i get, so nice and simple is the way foward..

    Thanks for the quick reply

The dlink is not what you want - it is quite limited and it only plays stuff from a divx server running on a PC.

Not sure what else to offer. I have the same girlfriend problem. She has always watched video on the main PC or laptop even when I've had video streamers, HTPCs and even a divx DVD player on the main TV. She does finally use the PS3 - but only for DVDs! :suicide:

Good luck with your hunt. New stuff is coming out all the time.

    How about the Netgear EVA8000.

It supports virtually every video and audio file, has USB ports for an external HD, supports HD with HDMI connection, has wireless and a reasonable GUI.

I have the new TViX M-7000A then I added an optional 1TB internal Hdd it has USB connect to your PC for fast transfer. Can also connect to your network via wireless or ethernet. Also has two slots for external usb connections.

Please full ISO rips of SD discs (around 8gb each) its working fine. Has the full functionality of the original discs.
