Having just sold my ae 100 i am now on the lookout for a new pj that hopefully shall keep my attention a little bit longer than the 7 months the 100 lasted.

It shall be used for sky, dvd via p.c, x-box and ps2.

I know this is a pretty vague request but if everyone can throw in their tuppence worth and with a reason for the recommendation i shall see if i can demo and decide from there.

Budget swmbo has set at £2000- £2500

it looks like dlp is the way to go within your bubget.

if I had 2k I would buy the new sharp dt-200 from pricejapan english OSD and 240 volt ok. Specs are great and with a lamp life of 5000 hours.

why not do some reading , there has been so much said about this for literally years on end , here and at AVS forums.
The big thing is whether you or your dear lady (who is funding this project) see rainbows on DLP. If you do then its an LCD or a nice refurbished CRT.
ps Why not pay for it yourself !!

The new Philips Bogart Matcline @ £1600 might be worth a look if you can get a *good* demo. I saw it today, but it was far from optimumly set up, so hard to tell. Lots of ambient light, and the image didn't fill the screen. It was showing a concert of some sort and not a movie, so was very difficult to tell if the colours were accurate etc. Good spec and price though, but would like to see it under much better conditions.

phillfyspoon's recommendation looks like a good choice if you can get to see one. If you're worried about rainbows, try the Infocus X1 - it has a slower colour wheel so if you're going to see them this model should show them.

try www.ivojo.co.uk for specs on various models should you find something in your price band that looks suitable.

    Thanks for the replies folks

I Am in the central belt (scotland) and do not know of many places to demo projectors tbh but i shall do a bit of digging and see what i can come up with.

Spacecat No point in spending my money when swmbo is willing to spend hers.

(Adrenochrome looks out of window to check if moon is blue.)

Just remembered - the Optoma H56 is very similar image wise to the NEC HT1000, and around £2300, so definately worth a look (rainbows not withstanding).
