how can we decide which platform to own the game on? for example if you own a 360 and a ps3.

games such as Fifa 08/COD4/Assassins Creed/Skate/PES08/Brothers in Arms/Medal of Honour which are all coming out across the platforms

how do you make the best choice for each one?

i think the mistake i will make is, buying the 360 version first, then the ps3 version will be relesaed a few weeks later with more content etc

do you really think the developers can say that the game will play exactly the same on both the 360 and ps3?

    share your thoughts!

I don't see how they can play the same with such different controllers. I just decided today to ditch the PS3 and put it towards 360 games.

Off the top of my head, the only things that differentiate between the 2 (or even PC for some) would be:
    • Joypad
    • Online services (Live vs PSN)
    • Visual fidelity
    • Features
    • Cost
    • Achievement points
All other things are equal I reckon...

well for me they are more personal reasons, being in a clan it depends on the majority specially if its online.

Id even get the less better of the 2 to get more peeps online :)

Though i have ordered MOH Airbourne for PS3 the only reason for the decision is ive played on the others on playstation. Yer a bit coy i konw but its a reason lol

Personally I buy most cross platform games for the 360 due to Live. This may change once Home comes out though.

As mentioned, other factors can come into the choice (i.e. preferred pad, the version with the best features, the version with the best graphics/sound etc.).

I think most games and especially shooters I will get on the PS3, I prefer the pads and I am also keen on the FragFX mouse thingy.

PES I think I will be getting on the 360 as my mate only has a 360 and he plays on Live regulary, he isnt really in to shooters tho, thankfully or I would have to get them on 360 too! :D

I always buy the 360 versions of games mainly for a few reasons...

    Rumble
    Achievements
Consistent online play and people actually speak
My friends list on xbox live

I'll probably get any football game on the PS3 as i'm more used to the pad for PES/FIFA. As for the others, i like to have rumble but i'll probably get things like Assassin's Creed on the PS3 simply because i haven't really used it for games yet and it seems a bit of a waste. I feel like i have to spread the love between all my consoles evenly.

The only games I definitely buy on the 360 are the exclusives. If it's a multiplatform game then I will buy it on the PS3 unless the 360 version is significantly better for some reason. I've already had my 360 replaced and I doubt I will go through that again. I don't want to end up with a large number of 360 games I can't even play. Therefore I rather have the majority of my games on the PS3.

I know development costs must be at the level now that developers / publishers have to maximise their return. But when you look on gametrailers, it doesnt matter whether you pick the PS3 / XBOX 360 or PC trailers, 90% are the same games.

I think we've reached the point where you don't choose a console based on the games but rather the extra features live/controller/blu ray/live arcade.

    yehh

the thing i hated is when i bought fight night round 3 for 360, i enjoyed it loads, and then the ps3 came out and fight night ps3, and it came with better gfx, new modes, etc

does anyone think that the Ps3s online will be better when warhawk comes out, due to it being bundled with a blutooth headset?

That is thee exception rather then the rule. It's sometimes the case when a game is released much later on a particular platform either because the developers have more time to put more in the game and/or as compensation for the game coming out late on that platform.

Having said that the fact that the PS3 uses blu-ray which has a higher capacity it's plausible that some games may have more content on the PS3 version. Stranglehold is a case in point where the PS3 versions has the blu-ray version of Hard Boiled on the same disc.
