heres a poll for the clash of the titans of the net for me it has to be opera for security and speed %75 of the time 20% of the time is firefox, for i dont know why 5% is IE, for sites that require IE what about the rest of yous
Maxthon. Fantastic. For anyone that's not tried it, do so. It uses the IE6 engine but wraps loads of additional features around it, like tabbed browsing (re-entrant to keep down the memory hit), improved security, mouse gesturing, drag & drop, improved favourites filing, better management of downloads etc.. and because it's IE6 under the hood, it behaves exactly as expected when surfing. I've tried all the alternatives (part of my job) and if MS were to licence Maxthon and launch it as IE7 everyone would be delighted. It's free, extremely stable and is devoid of spyware / popup ads / toolbars etc.
IMO, that just makes changes to security (which is very good) and makes themes avaliable. all the rest is the same but its a pretty decent browser yeah
Same here. IE is too slow, annoying and the block up popper is too over zealous. Hello Microsoft, I'm not an idiot. I only download legit programs. I have Norton and ZL Pro for gods sake Anyone think if/when Firefox becomes more popular, it'll be more susceptible to unscrupulous types hacking it? Annoyed by some sites still needing IE
Of course ! Hackers target IE because it is the most widely used browser. Having said that, there is safety in numbers, because more users means more chances of exploits being found. Just because not many exploits have been found in Firefox and Opera, doesn't mean that there aren't any to be found.
These hackers. If they're gonna do it, don't lie; "Its to highlight flaws, for good of public", - nope, its 'cos they're bored/sad/have no social life and many more
Work: Apple Safari. (Very similar to Firefox to use) Also use IE and firefox for testing websites due to considerable differences in the way sites look on different browsers until I've finished tweaking them. My kids use Firefox on the PCs at home. IE has been banned from public consumption.
Avant Browser is the only browser I use these days. Uses IE engine, but has far more functionality and it much faster than IE. Rob.
At home it is FireFox 90% and IE 10% At work it is Opera 70% and IE 30% Not sure why I dont use opera at home as I much prefer the "feel" of it (especially as it is now free) but for some reason I decided to set firefox as the default
What are the advantages of the latest free Opera browser when compared with Firefox? I used the free version of Opera a couple years ago, nice tabbed browsing, but it was full of advertising, so switched to Netscape 6 or 7 and then Firefox.
Other - Netscape. I used to use NCSA Mosaic but changed to Netscape. have been using it ever since. S.
