I am desperately trying to remember the name of this arcade game from the late eighties/early nineties. It was a side scrolling beat 'em up with the main character being a ninja but with a metal/robot body under his clothes and when he was hit metal fragments flew off. In two player mode the ninja power was either blue or red...I can't remember much else about it though so any help would be appreciated.

It wasn't either of those two games...I remember that it wasn't metal that came off when you got hit, it was part of your ninja outfit to reveal the metal underneath...your weapons were a sword and throwing stars and I think on one level the bad guys materialised like ghosts and then ran at you...

Hmmm interesting one - all I can think of is Ninja Combat (Neo Geo game) but I can't remember them being robots underneath. I do vaguely remember a game like you describe though. Don't suppose you have any idea of the manufacturer - even if you're not sure.

    Easy one
Its Ninja Warriors by Taito. Fun side ways scrolling slash'em'up. The Arcade version was very famous as it used three monitors. The action is spanned across the monitors giving the game a "wide-screen" effect. Also Feature music by Zuntata who did music for the Darius games.

I was pondering over that one for a while but couldn't remember the robot bit. I actually had this on the speccy I think and recall it being a pretty decent game. Now Darius on the other hand is a quality game and also employed the 3 screen widescreen effect. Sadly if you try and play it on Mame you just get a thin strip across your screen due to the widescreen effect.
