I guess this is pretty subjective but here goes:

I am about to build a PC to sit under the TV (Tosh 36ZP). I already have a nice DVD player (region 2 only) so lthough the PC will have a DVD drive, it won't be used to play loads of movies.

It won't be used to play all the latest games either. We are looking more towards millionaire when the family comes round and stuff like that.

It will be connected to the Internet (via a 4mb connection) and will mean that we can all sit around the TV when we do the shopping etc and will also be connected into the amp for playing back MP3s etc. It will also have access to the rest of the network when needed but this is just so I can move files to and from.

    So what card?

Being a large (ish) screen I am guessing I will need something decent and will be connecting to one of the SCARTS (s-video?) so I am now open to sugestions.

    Thanks

The best card for HTPCers is a Radeon.

However, the benefits of a HTPC over a stand alone DVD player on a tv are marginal at best.

For just HTPC use, the 7200 gets a lot of favourable reports.
Not a gamers card but it does benefit from only having a heatsink and no Fan hence it's quiet.
Also it's a lot cheaper than the 7500 and the 8500.
