Hi Guys looking to replace my ageing Sony DH800 with something up to date that is 4k compatible.

My current speaker setup pretty old: Floor standing Tannoy Mercury M3s, Mc B/eye centre & Mercury M1s as rears. Looking to add maybe another set of Mercury M1s.

What would compliment my speaker setup? Budget is around £300

Receivers by Sony, Onkyo and Pioneer would all work well with your speakers. Something like the Sony 10xx would be a good upgrade from your current one.

What do you think of the yamaha rxv377 or the rxv477?

THey are roughly the same levwel of receiver as the receiver you are looking to replace although the RXV477 is a better option because it includes network audio access. THe Yamaha RXV500D is probably a cheaper and beter option:

Yamaha RX-V500D

Again, not particularly an upgrade, but more akin to a side step with additional features. It is a model from last year hence the low price, but just as capable as the models released this year. I'd not suggest its audio signature as being the best option in relation to your speakers though and would suggest the same of any Yamaha AV receiver.
