I need to buy a Sound Pressure Level meter. Can someone please tell me what I should be looking for in terms of settings, ie whether if I should use slow/fast response, A/C weighting, etc, so I can make sure the device I buy has those required settings?
For calibration usage: C weighting. Response speed is unimportant, as calibration uses steady tones. For general usage, fast response is generally preferable. More important though is the device's accuracy, and you need to spend a fortune to get even semi-decent accuracy.
The ever-popular Radio Shack meter is a no-brainer choice for a low price model with adequate quality for domestic A/V usage.
