    Hi guys

First step complete - Viera TH37PE30B Plasma ordered from JL for delivery on Monday.

Now being new to AV and not wanting to spend silly amounts of money, I have come up with the following list. It is worth mentioning that I want to be able to watch sky sports, DVD and listen to CDs:

    Pioneer DV575A DVD player
    Pioneer VSXC502 Amp
    Morduant-Short Genie Speakers
    Upgrade to Sky+
Triskom PLS-315 Adjustable height Plasma stand

Does this look like a good set up for a beginner? Should I be considering anything else?

    Many thanks

why havnt you got the free DVD recorder and stand offer they packing away with the JL deal at the mo, surely that save ya a few quid?

On another note, hope to get my JL order processed tomorrow. rather than taking the Free DMR E55 DVD recorder. I'm thinking of upgrading to something that will have built in souround sound, maybe even a hard drive RAM recorder, so maybe stretch to a couple of hundred quid ontop of the DMR price.(£199) Trying to keep the number of seperates down to a min. or does piling all this technology into one box just reduce Quality?

    hornydragen,
canton too much and i don't fancy the germany trip, did look at the tanoy but wife don't like the look :nono:
WE ;) like the panny tall boy speakers but can only find them in a package,i was thinking of giving my boy (who is having my rear pro TV when the veria comes) the all in one dvd and using the speakers for my set-up,
so i will need a AV-Receiver and would the SAXR70 be a good partner with my Viera 42" and Panny E85 or would the SAXR50 be better,
also looking at the PIONEER VSXC502 or the 402
    and

the pioneer also have scarts, would this be better for my set-up,
the XR70 has HDMI but will i use it,

would having a panny receiver be better for my set-up as it would be all Panasonic, just looking at the options before i order speakers and receiver,

so many options  dunno what way to go

thanks for the links horny dragon,
those speakers are nice but above what i want to pay,
with the panny SCHT 870 i can use the speakers with my set-up and use the all in one DVD for the other system, then i will get the SAXR50 to go with the viera,E85 ,

is this the best receiver to match it with the viera and E85,

    thanks
    steve

not sure you can do that some of the all-in ones sub units have umbilicall connections to DVD player........
SAXR50 is probably best one to go for keeping it all panny simplifes remote etc

The deal that JL price matched was for TV only as the shop (H Prestons) had two packages, one with free stand etc and one without. The deal without was reduced by £500 because they could sell the stand and DVD separatley at that value. I asked JL to include free stand as this was a Panasonic offer and they stated that they would include it at the same price at H Preston being the £500 higher price

Hi, this is my first posting as a new member who has been looking around your forum for a few weeks now. I am looking to buy a 37" viera for Xmas so popped into my local Peterborough JL yesterday. They agreed to price match with other stores namely Watford and WGC, said they would contact them and ring me up. Rang me today saying they would reduce the package to £2499 which includes stand DVD and 5Yr warranty. Anyone know the latest price at other JL Store so I can go for an even bigger reduction. What about Currys, I think I saw an Ad. for 25% of widescreens today.

    Regards Harry

I paid £1899 for the 37" Viera without stand and DVD - JL High Wycomber price matched H Prestons. I then bought the stand from Empire Direct for £349.
