    Hello People! :hiya:

I own a Sony DSC-P12 limited edition dark blue, which was bought from the internet about two years ago. It worked out to be a great camera, but I was and still disappointed with the battery life of this camera. :(

So I have decided that maybe I need a new camera. I am usually on holiday nearly every year so its handy to have a compact but snazzy camera to capture the beautiful landscapes. :D

For me whats important is the quality and the battery life, of course. I was on top of the models about two years ago, but I have totally lost it, as technology is developing at the speed of lightening.

    Any ideas and suggestions? :lease:

    Thanks in advance!

    How much you wanna spend?

If your spending anything over the 200 mark you will get a cmaera that can usually take around 250-300 chots per battery charge, this, of course depending on how you use the camera, can vary.

To be honest any camera you go for today, you will notice a significan improvment over the P12, nothing worn gwith that camera, just showing its (rather young) age.

Just bought a Canon IXUS 750 and as far as I'm concerned, it's the dog's dangly bits! I tried just about all the others out there (I know someone who manages a camera shop!) and none of them came close to the clarity, colour, build quality and battery life of the Canon.
The movie mode is excellent too - just make sure you get a big storage card though!!

Yep the Canons are good, then agaion, they have all just been replaced, persoanlly in the compact market, its going to be between the new Panasonics, and the Nikons, with the Olympus range lloking very sweet as well, hopefully you arnt in too much of a hurry to buy, as it will be the start of April all of these will be on you local shelves.

One i would maybe look at is the new compact Panasonic 28mm, looks very nice, with very good battery life.

Yes, bought my wife an IXUS 750 and it is the daddy if you want a compact.

If you want a proper SLR and are looking at the entry level, I would personally go for the Nikon D50.

Possibly the best site you can get reviews off is: www.dpreview.com

Nope you are just going to have to trust me that you should buy a IXUS 750.:D :D :D :D :D :D Yes I work for Canon!

Only kidding about working for Canon but seriously the site I pointed to you above will provide a number of alternatives for any of the cameras that have been suggested.

Excellent, I have a 1Gb card in it and if not using the flash can fill up the 340 or so max quality shots on the card on one battery charge. If using the flash, about 1/3 to 1/2 of that. The up side is that the batter is an 80 minute full charge and removable with a separate charger, so get an extra battery and you will be smiling.
