    Ok I give in.
    What is the significance of the L that Canon users list on their lenses.
    Is it a sort of Ghia version.
    Also, do we Nikon user have an equivalent, or are we not worthy.

    Yes it's just like a car - red L plates for learners ;)

    I think the L is because they are made of fLourite - not glass. (Although there is an L in glass... ?:confused: )

    Maybe someone knows more behind it...

    It actually stands for Luxury - and relates to build, optics, weather-proofing and the like.

    L stands for 'loads a money', 'cos that's what you need if you want to start a collection :rotfl:

    We Nikon users have the gold rings to aspire to.

    also means Loud: my Lens is better than yours :rotfl: but onefivenine's thread has very eloquently thrashed that matter;)

    If you must have a red ring the Sigma 70-300 DG APO has one ( it is not Canon Specific)
    Canon users have no gold rings to worry about
