I just noticed one of my bills from SKY. They're charging £54 a Month. I thought it was £44, definitely not over £50. It would be nice to notify me if they're taking £100-odd a year!

    I have the following packages/mixes;

    - HD
    - Knowledge
    - Movies
    - Entertainment.

That shouldn't be £54 a month, should it? Anyway, was thinking about cancelling it for a while now, but £54 is just a bit much. Definitely getting rid of movies, haven't got the hours in a week to watch that much.

Just checked my HDD, i've got over 60gb of stuff recorded that i can't find time to watch. Its being recorded at a rate of 4:1 of what i can actually catch up on.

    2mix + Movies is £34 p/m
HD is £10 on top so it should indeed be £44 p/m NOT £54 p/m

Is that the total amount after discounts as Sky have a really daft way of itemizing their bills and show all the services your are being provided with and their associated price before discounts are applied so you may find what is being taken is £44 per month.

I.e in your case it may well show £54 as the services you recieve will be

    2mix
    Movies
    Sky+
    HD

And show the total amount as £54.

They then go onto say £10 sky+ charge is being discounted to £0 due inclusion of HD sub.

It is bizzare how they do it and just causes confusion.
Always worth checking your statement via the STB (if you have a phone line connected) as that lists actual charges and the services credited back.

I had a huge row with them over this - MAKE SURE youre not being charged the Sky+ sub.....it took me speaking to 4 people to get them to admit I should only be paying the £10HD sub

If you are on a sub that is £37 or more you get the Sky+ feature for free otherwise its a tenner.

If you go with Movies + all 6 variatie mixes it comes to £37, add on the Hd sub and it'll come to £47 - more channels for less money.

I dont work for Sky BTW - but found this out today when upgrading my package (HD coming on Friday)

you dont pay a sky+ fee at all, no matter what package you are on, if you are paying the £10 HD sub

Free Sky+ (when you don't have the HD sub) is not price related. Its free when you take either SkySports or Sky Movies or both.

    E.g.

    2mix is £15 pm
    2mix and Sky+ is £25 pm
2mix and Sky Sports is £34 pm
2mix SkySports and Sky+ is still £34 pm.

I know where they get the £37 and sky+ is free from though as that's the price of 6mix plus either skysports or SkyMovies. In essence they are trying to get you to spend more and have incorrectly told you spend £37 or more and Sky+ is free. Bit sneaky that as its not actually true :(

yep sounds tright - I have 6 mixes +hd and pay £31 pm. Just make sure that you argue if they tell you that you have to still pay the £10 sky+ sub. You DO NOT have to pay this if you have the £10 hd sub....I had to go through to the HD line in the end to get it sorted as normal cust services were saying no

so whats the full package cost? I'm sure i'm paying £56 a month, or something like that.

I'm definitely going to cancel sports though. Hardly watch it anyway. so what should all mixes + movies + HD be?

its an extra £16 on top - I did have this but decided to cancel it and sign up to an online dvd rental company instead...thought it was better as that way I could watch*cough*copy dvds and watch them whenever :rotfl:

This thread has interested me quite alot......

Now, im a old school sky payer. Before all these 'mixes' came about i had the run of the mill 'all channels' package. Then i got Sky + and they told me that i had to pay a extra £10 a month OR get either Movies or Sports and they would wipe the charge.

Currently im paying £37 for all channels, movies, and sky+....... im not sure how that fits into the current scale of payments, but if i got a HD box would i have to pay the extra £10p/m for that ??

I really want HD but balls to them if they think im paying another tenner a month, i thought is was rubbish paying for the ability to record with Sky +. They charge enough for the subscription as it is, any functionallity like Sky+ or HD should be in with the cost of the equipment !

    Rant over.

So will i have to pay the extra £10 ?

Your £37 breaks down as follows

£21 for 6mix (i.e. all the std definition channels excluding sports and movies)
£16 for the combined Sports and Movies packages

Unfortunately (in terms of next point ;)) Sky+ is free as you have sports and/or movies so yes you would have to pay £10 on top for HD.

I signed up to the Sky World package and like someone else missed all the mixes buiness. My charge is £43.50 (about to jump up £10 because of HD) - based on the statement about I am being overcharged by £6.50 a month  . True / False?

Just checked on the Sky site.

Its £16 for Sports OR Movies, but not BOTH.

So if you want full 6 mixes and sport = £37. 6 mixes and both is £43.50. Not being overcharged then:cool:

    Sorry meant to write

£16 for the combined Sports or Movies packages

"combined" as in all the sports channels or movies channels not both (as you used to be able to buy the odd or the evens) and put the AND in the wrong place.

What you have put is correct :smashin:

Thanks to this thread I checked my subscription and found that since taking on HD last November I had been charged a second HD subscription for my Sky+ multiroom, plus the multiroom subscription - that's £10 too much. After much 'I don't know what to do' support said they would credit my account with the overpayment.

I expect I will have to phone again next month to sort it out.
