As you all seen or may know I am been thinking of getting a Sony 905 dvd player and want it to be multiregion but I dont really fancy a hardware mod one I prefer to have one that been done by remote.

Any ideas who sell them this way. I been looking at techtronics but I believe they are hardware mods

Not all DVD's can be made M/R via a remote code. If it is possible to make the 905 multiregion via a remote code then your best bet is to do an internet search for the code.
I would have thought that hardware mods would not be used if a remote hack was possible. Why would anybody pay for a hardware mod if a code was all that was needed?

There is indeed a remote hack for the 905 which can be done via a special service remote that you can effectively hire for about £30 (IIRC) (it only works once then you send it back). Can't remember the name of the company that does it but a search on the forums should bring up something. :)

There is also a series of remote codes that can be programmed into an Ipaq to make the "NS" range of Sony players MR - they were discussed on here about a week ago but only a few people had any success with them so not a "definite" possibility for you. Again, a search on the forums should bring it up :)

Hopefully this will be of use to you if you can't find a retailer that specifically doesn't use a hardware mod :)

Just did a quick search for you and you should find all that you need in this thread :)

The company that provides the upgrade remote control for hire is www.dvdchips.co.uk

Information about the PDA codes is also in there.
