Ok

Building up the Home System bit by bit and now have the following:
  • Denon AVR-X2500H Receiver
  • Monitor Audio Radius One Speaker
  • BK Electronics Double Gem Sub woofer (pending delivery)
Now is time to look for the surround sound speakers and stands for behind the couch.

Currently I have 2 Yamaha NX-E130 (YAMAHA NS-P100 OWNER'S MANUAL Pdf Download. ) and looking to upgrade.

Looking for something similar in size. I know for the sub-woofer I got a different brand but for the surround is it best to get Monitor Audio speakers for compatibility?

I like the look of the Apex A10 (Apex A10 | Bookshelf Speakers | Monitor Audio ) but these seem expensive (£300 each) and the stands then are £275 but that’s for the pair. Trying to keep it to a budget of €400 give or take and I not sure how much stands would cost or any other suggestions for stands.

So any other recommendations that would work well with my current set up

Cheers

Radius 90 would be ideal as you would have matching drivers all around then. They are very small when you see them. 198 x 125 x 140mm

AVO has few of them which has tiny marks, better to call them and ask more. 249£/pair as normally 349£. They are very compact sized and while most people goes with Radius stands, you should be able to buy any stands that has small enough top plate (so it won´t look ugly).

Radius 45 would be even cheaper and smaller, but i`m little skeptical about these as i haven`t read anything good about them. Tweeter is firing at rear and likely to be wall mounted, which isn`t for you i assume.

If you want specifically white Radius stands, they seem to have ex-demos.

Thanks again your some fountain of Knowledge

They seem Ideal and within the budget and Radius 90 looks good and will have a look at the stands also. On the speakers it states 'The stand comes fully assembled and internally wired with speaker terminals located at the back of the stand’s integral ARC plinth'

What exactly is internally wired? At the moment I have the wires running along the skirting to the back of the couch so take it I can use existing wire?

Now see how Mr Credit Card is at the moment as he's been taken a hit past few weeks

Haha, thanks but i`m fellow MA owner so familiar with their stuff. AVO seems to always has some good deals going on as you found out with the Radius One and for me it´s about finding best deals for members.

There is banana plugs in the stands and you push the speaker so the plugs connects to speakers. And with speaker wires going inside there is plus and minus terminals behind the stands on the lower base. This is why these are so expensive, no visible wires (WAF).

This route is actually quite perfect you. When you move to new house and you are ready to go full size system, then you can move the Radius 90 to front mains and get Radius 200 center or keep Radius 90 as surrounds and buy Radius 270 floorstanding speakers with Radius 200. So you have many options for future to make the system even better! :smashin:

Ok then you should be on commission for MA:D

Bit the bullet and bought them and now I am complete

I just have to get them set up and Perform Audyssey Setup and convince Miss Funkyirishman that it did not cost me to much and Juniors college fee is safe:smashin:

Hopefully have it set up close enough to Easter and just eat loads of chocolate and sit back and enjoy the sounds:)
