Hi people I'm still trying to find my way with subs and am currently in the market for a secondhand one. I'm using a Denon 3805 and 3910 dvd with B+W 603+601s the room that the kit is in has a very high ceiling 25 ft what subs would you recommend for around 350 pounds that would complement this kit?

    Many thanks for any info,

    Devs. ;)

I would up the budget!!! But a Velo CHT-R is hard to beat at that price range, will still need a bit more budget though. I would image the 12" best at rrp of £470. To be honest I can't remember the last time I didn't say Velodyne in response to a subwoofer question, escept when it was for a Genelec system. Haven't sold any other brand in months.

Sounds like a good price indeed although you ought to check if it is the new CHT-R model and not the earlier CHT model. Not that it makes a lot of difference at that price. :)

If it's two years old it probably will not be a CHT-R as they haven't been out that long. It's most likely a CHT 15 which was the forerunner and was a very popular sub with forum members in it's day, partly due to the discounted prices available via the forum.

Guys many thanks, yeah I made a mistake and it is a CHT 15 rather than the newer CHT-R 15. Do you think it still represents good value, as I don't know how much they cost new. Is there anything that I should be looking for when I demo the sub.

    Many Thanks,

    Devs. ;)

I don't know what the official RRP was but when they were sold through the AV Forums powerbuys they were about £685 so half price isn't bad if it's in good condition although I would probably try and beat the vendor down to £300

The Paradigm Servo 15 is generally accepted to be a Premier League sub whilst the Velodyne is near the top of the Championship League but even so I doubt whether the vendor paid £750 for it two years ago as at that time they were the subwoofer bargain of the decade with Richer Sounds selling them for £500

That seems like a real bargain for that price.Don't know what they sound like but a 15" sub with a 400 watt amp @ £175 sounds like a good deal to me.

Yeah. Pricing is pretty aggresive. There was a Revolution 15 sub last week for less than the above.
