Hi this is my first post even though ive been reading these forums for a while now. Ive talked my self into upgrading my surround sound system ive ordered my new Denon AVR-2105 amp and was wondering what speakers (Fronts only) would be recomended for around £400, The speakers will be used 50/50 for music and movie many thanks wallzy
i hope you mean when you ask for fronts only that that includes the centre? if it does i apologise for sounding patronising but it is important to keep the front 3 speakers as similar as possible to ensure a believeable soundstage
it didnt include the center i was going to buy the center (with a buget of its own) seporate it would have been the same make thow. i popped down to my local audio shop yesterday and i heard a pair of DM603-S3s i thought the sound was really crisp although they are over my original price i was truley impressed with there sound has anybody had any experiance with these could any one please tell me any other speakers i should be looking at for around the £500-£600 mark thanks wallzy
Have you considered an AE evo package? Extremely involving for you pay. Go take a listen, IMHO they are better than the Missions.
AE Evo1 is a good setup for the Denon 2105 (a friend of mine has that setup with Evo Compact+Evo Center+Rel Quake). Or AE evo3 for floorstanders. Avoid B&W with Denon and maybe Monitor Audio... Kef Q series also another option...
Matching sound... Denon is bright sounding, MA adds extra bright... B&W even more... KEF has netal tweeters but I think is smother...
I would also look at the classified sections on the forums and EBay as you can pick up some very solid bargains. I'm just about to advertise my MA silvers so keep your eyes peeled
Not sure the Denon 2105 will be good enough for the Quad 12L's, 2805 would be a better match. If you could stretch to it, the 21L's would be even better I hope you get your amp sorted.
thanks alot mate im taking the amp back to the place of purchase tommorow fingers crossed eh!! wallzy
I really like my Monitor Audio silver 6's - fit your price range at £499.99, sound great (even better now I've been using them a couple of months), look great, and of course they do a good matching centre for when you get round to it. I've not heard them with your Denon amp though (using them for music only with Exposure kit at the mo), but they should be a decent match. I agree they are brighter than some, but if you like the B&W you heard, these should definitely be on your list.
