I have finally decided to get the AVR250 and DV79. I have a pair of S1's at the moment which I am thinking of moving these to the rear and getting some S8's (or S10's) with the matching centre. As I have not had Arcam before I was wondering if this would be the best move. I would be grateful for any opinions as to the best choice of speakers. I have a BK sub which I will be keeping but I'm completely open as to the choice of speakers but much prefer floorstanders at the front. Budget is £1,500 ish. Any advice re cables, inter's would also be welcome. I will be using component video.
You should definitely have a listen to some pmc GB1 fronts. I'm using a pair with a DB1+S centre connected to my AVR200, and am very pleased with them.
When you mention S8's are you talking Monitor Audio? I use the earlier silver 8i's (+12i centre and fxi sides and rears) and find they work very well with Arcam kit so the S8's and 10's will certainly be worth a demo. Let us know how you get on.
I would also listen to the Monitor Audio GR10 and GR Centre speakers, leagues ahead of the Silver series in terms of punch and clarity, in fact the GR10s are what Arcam use in one of their demo rooms at the factory.
Hi Crustyloafer! I wont ask You, are AE1 MK3 much better than MA GR10? And what is sonic-difference between them? Thank for answer!
I use Monitor Audio Gold series with Arcam amplifiers, although only in stereo. Generally, I think the sound of these brands work well together. - I would expect the AE1 MK3 to be superior to the GR10 as it is - at least where I'm located - almost four times the price!
