Hello All

I am looking at an upgrade and am thinking that the speakers in my setup are probably the weakest link (and would welcome your thoughts on this too) and if you agree what floor standers would people think would be a good upgrade.
Setup
Musical Fidelity A3 - monoblock integrated (85 watts per channel into 8 ohms)
(170 watts per channel into 4Ohms)
with two X-a50 running from the pre-amp out socket on the back. (passive bi-amping, main amp drives woofers whilst Xa50s drive tweeters)
So - I am bi-wiring -
Speakers - Epos ES14s (bought in the late eighties)

I mainly listen to Vinyl via a secondhand Systemdek IIX but also have a -
Musical Fidelity A3 CD player

What do you think? I mainly listen to rock/acoustic and the room is quite long and thin, after always having small speakers I would really like to go with floorstanders and have a budget of up to £1800.

Chris

I will be upgrading to these after xmas Focal Speakers Per Pair

Can't really beat Focal for clarity in this price range.

Thanks Hixs, how much are you wanting?

Suprised I have had no advice form anyone?

Hi Chris. Your gear is very good indeed. But without some idea of the size of your room it’s bit difficult to suggest much as the speaker/room thing is the most difficult bit to get right.

How narrow for instance plays a big part in unwanted reflections. As does how close you sit the speakers and how far from the rear wall.

Hi Paul
My room is about 3.5 metres wide and about 6m long.

The speakers will sit in the middle of the longest wall and can't be too far from the wall either.

Listening position is directly opposite.
