I have a pioneer amp and am getting the pioneer 575a dvd player soon.
What I need now are some speakers but I only have about £200 spare.

I have seen the tannoy fx5.1. They seem ok, any ideas on what to get?

I can only advise from experience, so here goes.

Go to http://www.pricerunner.co.uk and have a look round there. There's tons of speaker packs for £200 and under, just try and get one with a subwoofer. But to be honest dont expect much for £200. Look at packages from brands known for their speaker quality, Mission, Wharfedale, JBL, Tannoy, Elac, Eltax, Sony. Also if it looks too good to be true, it likely will be i.e, a pair of floorstanders + Rears + Centre +Subwoofer is likely to be crap.

My opinion 2 pairs of mission m71(£60) and matching 7c1 centre (£50)from richer sounds and pick up a cheap active sub from them with whats left, also dont forget cable.

    Hope this helps

Got the perfect option for you mate (if you can stretch to £230!):-

Go to www.hificonfidential.com. You can pick up the Mordaunt-Short Premiere package now for just £230. I paid £250 for mine and it was the best £250 i'd ever spent. Really good sound quality, build, good looks... great!

You will notice there are a few different types. If you pay £300, you get a hell of a sub. But the 308 model is excellent value also.

I have heard that the Tannoy ones are :thumbsdow

    Good luck
