    Hi,

I am about to purchase the following system:

    B&W 703 - Fronts
    B&W HTM7 - Center
    B&W 705 - Rears
    PV1 Sub
    RSP 1068 processor
    RB 1090 power amp
    RMB1075 multichannle power amp.
    RCD1072 cd player
    QED QUDOS rear speaker cable
QED QUDOS BIWIRE fronts speaker cable
    QED QUNEX 1 interconnects

I have got some quotes for prices that include QED qudos speaker cable for the rears and QED qudos biwire cable for the fronts. Will this speaker wire be good enough for the above setup?

Does anybody see any obvious issues with the above system, are the interconnects sufficient?

Thanks in advance for your comments....

Good old 79 strand will work just fine, and is inexpensive.

Normal speaker cable with 79 strands of 0.2mm diameter copper wire giving 2.5mm^2 CSA. QED used to do their version of it, but there are many places you can get it. Studiospares call it "white economy speakerflex 2.5mm" and it costs £0.41/m + VAT.

Maplin call it "HiFi Loudspeaker cable XR72P" at £0.69/m inc, or £12.99/20m inc. Both companies also have a higher quality version wit LOFC conductors and 3mm^2 CSA for a little more.

If you look at the Studiospares website, also take a look at the SOMMER Meridian speaker cable, which is LOFC and available in 1.5mm, 2.5, 4.0 and 6.00m sizes. They also do biwire/biamp cables from Sommer (Elephant) and Europa (Premium) which have 4 x 2.5mm conductors

I would like to recommend Mark grant interconnect cables which sell for 25 quid for a metre. Far better quality that the QED one you mentioned. The QED one was always difficult to insert and remove and the quality of the assmebly wasnt to hot either. Sound wise it was ok.
Mark cables are of far better quality and the sound is impressive.
As for speaker cable have a look at Van Damme cables from VDC or Maplins and if you are into DIY CAT5 cable.

    Thanks for your inputs,

I have ended up going for some van den hul 'The Name' for interconnects.
QED Silver Anniversary BiWire for the fronts.

See how it goes I guess...
