Hey folks, basically i've just knocked up a machine to run as a HTPC, and i'm not totally sure what is the best option for me.

I like the sound and look of Media Portal so i'm going to be giving this a test.

Basically for now all I want to be doing is playing ISO images and other video files, no Blu-Ray, no TV etc.

I'd like them to be auto-mounted for playing - not too fussed what they play in as long as they play :p

And also some Divx files which i'd like to be in a seperate part of media portal (or another piece of software)

    What would you folks suggest?

Am I right to think Media Portal will do what I need?

I have Vista 64 bit installed at the moment but could put 32 bit on if that is likely to be better?

    Cheers

Mediaportal will do what you want. You might need to add a few codecs depending on the content you have. Have a look at the Standalone Filters package that has been created. It should play most content.

To auto mount ISO image you will nedd something like Daemon Tools.
