    Hello,

Need a new set of speakers to match with my Yamaha DSP A5 amp in my new flat.

The room is 4.5 meters by 3 meters. However, the rears need to be no wider that 4.3 inches due to the door.

That seems to leave me the mordant shorts (4.2 inches wide) or some of those bose cubes.

    Any other ideas?

    thanks

except they are £350-500 a pair... not £500 for the whole package.

    nice but expensive.

I was told £550 for a system of 5, no subwoofer. It can be wrong since I have not confirmed it with a retailer yet.

But you can have a look in this site: http://www.petertyson.co.uk/hifispeakers.shtml

    my apologies, LostinSpace...

they were originally quoting £1200-1500 for a complete system of the gallo nucleus including subwoofer.

is this £500 for the 5 satellites though, with no sub?
    that would make more sense.

    Apologies accepted. ;)

And the price for 5 seems to be around £500, depending on colour. There are very good oppinions about them from people that know what they are talking about. So, seems very promising considering the price bracket we are talking about. Not so sure about the performance of the subwoofer, but depending on the budget one can also get one from a different brand.

    Bests.

is it really £500 for 5.. thats pretty good if true.

however, the link at Peter Tyson - supposedly with 5 speakers for £449... thats for 3 surely?

Anthony Gallo M2 Hifi system Nucleus micro Speakers x 2, Black or White finish. £ 299.99
Anthony Gallo M3 AV system Nucleus micro Speakers x 3, Black or White finish. £ 449.99

you'd have to buy both the M2 & M3 system to get 5... which is £748 from the price list, plus the price of a sub on top... between £300-500... something like £1000-1200?

nice speakers from what others are saying, but considerably more than what was originally asked for... as per the thread title "small £500 speaker package".

It may well be, looking at the price list. I thought the AV system included 5 speakers, and not 3. Got it wrong. I have not asked prices, but if somebody is interested, he/she can always confirm it. And yes, total price can go to £1000, what is far far away from what we were asked. My mistake in that case....

The Peter Tyson link actually seems to have changed since yesterday, was originally showing as a 5 piece set at that price.

That Mordaunt Short premiere set looks quite good value at around £500 or maybe the Mission FS2s??

    Hi
I've just spent ages looking for the same thing. In the end i bought the Energy take 5 speaker package from Sevenoaks for £550.The only other ones i thought about where the Kef eggs, which sound great but are a bit more expensive.
So far i'm very pleased with the Energys, and they are pretty small.
What impresses me the most is the big sound from such a small package.

    Any more questions mail me

    Paul.

I did wonder at the 5 for £500 price... they would be cracking value at this price...

I'm not surprised this has changed - dealers wont want the price dropping for a good while yet... got to make some money somehow! (think of the kef eggs and their sustained high price since release).

much as I like the FS2s... they are too wide, about 5-7 inches across.. and certainly more than the 4.3 inches pogg has space for.

I dont know if there is space above the door.. would open the choice of speakers up a huge amount.

guess we'll wait for pogs to come online.

I went for the BOSE Accustimas 10 system. Got it for £599.

It was settled by the fact they looked good to me and sounded real good on the demo at Hifi corner.

Those twin twistable cubes just look so good on the wall. Much better than huge great big speakers. But I know those biggies sound better, but as my amp is not allowed above 2, those bose's sound just terrific.

I did test the kef eggs (prefered the sound from bose and they were too dear) Those gallo things were just silly money and there did not seem any way to wall mount them properly. Mordaunt shorts did not fit in the end. The eltax sounded tinny to my ears. That left the Bose. Expensive for the size but I'm chuffed with my purchase.

Thanks for all the help guys
