What should I look for in a DVD/HDD recorder

Hi

I have just bought a new Plasma TV and I am looking for a HDD recorder. What features do I need? EG does it make sense to insist on HDMI output?

Thanks

HDMI is a bonus but IMO and most others not compulsory.

I'd say:

At least 160Gb Hard disk
DVD Recorder to with DL and DVD-Ram Support
Progressive Scan Component

And for the bigger stuff:

HDr
DVDr
Freeview
DivX

All the above is in the gorgeous Pioneer 540.

Well it should be better but you get used to it. I do find myself every time I use it having to mess opening the flap as the number buttons are below it.

Maybe they never designed you to use the Freeview tuner as your main tuner, in that scenario the flap wouldn't be an issue but seeing as it's now replaced my Freeview tuner I do use it all the time.

You can't win:

1. No Flap - Some will complain it has to many buttons (my preference)
2. Flap - It's harder to get to some buttons
