I would have thought Googling for "cable router" should bring up loads.

The one I'm using is the supplied Netgear WNR2000v2.

Why are you after one though?

If yours is duff or hasn't been changed for yonks, I'd phone Virgin.

Why do you need to see the back?
If it says "Cable router" that's what it will be and it'll work.

i would like to have control over my router not for virgin to control over it

You've lost me there
What do you mean by Virgin controlling it?

Have you tried typing 192.168.1.1 into your browser?

You should be able to set it up how you want then.

192.168.0.1 for netgear
yes i have been in to my router and the connection part is locked

What do you mean it's locked

To access the settings on that router, WHICH ARE ALL THERE, see above.

(Unless I've totally lost the plot :suicide:)

You're not making yourself clear at all mate :(

Ok, let's start again.
I apologise for the shouting, btw.
I should have just gone bold :suicide:

If you want to access the router settings you need to type 192.168.1.1, not 192.168.0.1

Does that solve your problem?

Fwiw, I had a similar problem with my previous Netgear 614 constantly losing connection.
I just got in touch with Virgin who sent me this 2000 and it sorted it.

So you're talking about your modem , as opposed to the router?

Unsubscribed.

Virgin use two setups, the older was you had a seperate modem and a seperate router and they then switched to a combined modem and router.

You have the seperate modem and seperate router so you cant change the modem you can only use one supplied by them. You can change the router if you wish but your issue is not with the router. With a seperate modem and router each will have their own configuration page you need to go to via a web browser and log into to make any changes.

You say you want to change the upstream channel id, of course you cant do that! If your modem keeps dropping connection then you need to contact Virgin for support.

You can get support on the virgin community forum: Broadband - Help & Support Forum

Post on their support forum with the issues you are having.
