I'm using a lcd 40" screen and it has a vga input as well. I was uisng component yesterday and it was playing movies in 480p? is that right? So how does it play them in vga? I played through the vga input and they definately dont look like 480i are they 480p through vga input? I think they look better through vga than component considerably. But I would like to know why. Also playing through VGA i get top and bottom blac bars but if i play them through component the movie is full screen.

640x480 I believe (VGA/PC signals are all progressive). This is less than dvd's max res. of 720x576 (pal) (albeit interlaced).
