    As per title,

I've got some Demo time booked in for 18/11 what receivers should I have on my shortlist to partner Monitor Audio Radius speakers ?

My current Amp is a Pioneer AX3 which, when partner with the metal coned Monitor Audio's, is producing a very forward and (now I've removed my carpets and installed a solid wood floor) bright/harsh sound. At loud volumes it's not a great listen !!

Marantz 4500 has been recommended in another thread, I'm looking for something smoother and less fierce than the pioneer. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, my budget is around £700 ish.

I want to get a shortlist together so that sevenoaks can get sorted prior to the 18th.

    Many thanks. :lease:

Denon are laid back and smooth in their delivery, not to everyones taste. No reason why you could not pick up a 3805 for that as they are clearing stocks at the moment.

if you do not need massive amounts of options and connections etc etc, then you might even find the 2805 is suitable enough.....that will weigh in well under your budget nowadays.....but tbh the 3805 is probably the better option if its in your price bracket....more power = more control, more control = better sound :)

definitely going to have the 3805 on the audition list then, if it's good hopefully I'll be able to pick up one of the last ones cheap !!

I would add to the list:
    Cambridge Audio 640
    ONKYO SR503E
    NAD T743

I'm happy with the sound quality and features on my T753.

I have had a hissing issue and unit is with NAD atm to sort out.
Thinks it's rare bad luck of mine.

    Cost £500 from av-land

Check out an equivalent yamaha model too, guess either 757 or 1500 (although the 1600 and 2600 will be out soon) as they have a neutal sound not unlike denon (so goes well with metal domed speakers).

Also I don't think the cambridge is out yet?

*edit supprised no one has mentioned marantz 7500 yet either, if you have metal speakers and bare floor then this will sort the harshness out.
