Hi all, I'm looking for some advice as to which Home Projector I should buy ? I have a budget of approx £2000 and would like to use it for watching DVD,s/TV and connecting to my laptop occasionally. I have a basic understanding of lumens/resolution etc, but still need some guidance in choosing the right one. Is the Epson EMP-52 (1200 lumens,800x600) more for presentations or would it be ok for a room 18 feet x 13 feet ?

Any help/advice/suggestions/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

    Gary
    p.s
What cables wiring will I need to connect my DVD/TV etc ?
Should they come with it ?g

Thanx for taking the time to replyPetrolhead :) I have decided the Sony HS10 is the best one to go for in the long run. I phoned the local Glasgow Sony centre and they said it would come in at £2,600, I could buy it online at Unbeatable.co.uk for £2110.96 inc VAT (if they had any in stock). I would love to know why Sony want so much for it when others can supply it much cheaper, surely they should offer the same deal or better. Is there anywhere else I can buy online (UK) at a similar price to Unbeatable, dont really want to place an order when no delivery date is available.

    Thx
    Gary

www.pricejapan.com have them in stock for $2627, which is about £1910 when you add the UK VAT after import. They also have a zero dead pixel policy.

Thx Klippie, If only you'd posted earlier :(
I got impatient and signed up for one today at a rip off £2699.99 and paid a deposit of £270.00(i know I'm crazy). Can anyone tell me what the situation is if I go back and say I've seen it for £600.00 cheaper elsewhere and dont want to go ahead now. It's a direct debit agreement.

    Thx
    Gary

    Gary,

You are allowed to change your mind, even more so that the price is so much cheaper.

Get you deposit money back and place an order through Robert Whyte. Like Klippie I got mine from there just before Xmas.

Also if you are looking to mount it on the ceiling don't be fooled into buying an expensive ceiling mount as I have just made a mount from speakers brackets from Maplins.

£15 for the brackets plus another £5 for bolts and a small piece of wood.

Thx for taking the time to reply Kevin, I'll take your advice and go ahead and do that. One last question, How long did you wait for delivery or do they sometimes have them in stock ?

p.s Good tip about the bracket :) (b&q it is then)

    Thx again
    Gary

Before you order from RW, you might want to search this forum for other users' comments on their after-sales attitude.

I should have said earlier, but I've decided not to bother going to RW after reading many posts on their customer service and after-sales service. I had visions of me without a PJ for weeks having to wait till their next shipment if it developed any problems. I even sent them an e-mail making enquiries about 1 week ago and have had no reply as yet. I would have considered the Sanyo Gus , but I've already ordered the HS10 and am pretty much sold on it after reading more and more about it. Thx all the same.

    Gary

ps Does anyone know the max screen-size I'll be able to project with the HS10 from a distance of 15/16ft ? I'm still in the process of buying a screen.

    Thx
