hi i am thinking about selling my philips 962sa dvd player
i paid $590.00 plus import tax its 6 months old great condition,
    https://www2.setssl.com/~hivizone/dvdplayer/main_frame.htm

the reason i might be selling is everybody got a arcam dv88+ and i want one :(

only if i could get a good enough price for mine though

    any help would be great

    962sa not the 963sa

I guess the question is how much is the 963sa over here.

I would have thought about 1/2 - 2/3 the going 963sa rate (and I guess is alldepends where u sell it).

One selling point could be the fact that the 963 is I think still in short supply?

    Good Luck

    Matt

I've got the same setup as you (962sa and Series 4 42 inch Plasma).

Are you thinking of using the Arcam 88+ with your plasma? Or is it for a larger display?

If its for the plasma, have you seen the Arcam with a series 4 42 inch screen and if so is it a big improvment over the 962sa?

I would be interested to hear as if you are planning to use the Arcam with a projector then I assume there would be a noticable difference. But, on a 42 inch display maybe the difference is not all that or worth nearly an extra £1000.

As for the resale value of the 962sa, thats the price we pay for having TRUE PAL prog scan, multi-region, SACD months before anyone else!

i was thinking of getting a arcam to go with my plasma 42
i have not seen them together , i am very happy with the philips
ive just got upgrade itus at the moment , i am hoping to get a dvd player and a matching amp.
arcam dv88+ and a arcam av 200 amp
or maybe a denon 3800 and 3803 for the delay,
them maybe i can hide all the rest of the gear away

but i not prepared to take a huge loss on the philips so maybe i will have to wait , i think the arcam dv89 is out soon

if you dont mind posting some of your settings here for me to try or pm me if you be so kind, i cant make up my mind on the gamma, chroma, sharpness, on the dvd player

    cheers

Upgadeitus I know that feeling - go for an Arcam DV27 and do the job properly!

For that sort of money though I would really want a big improvement.

    As for settings I have left the player as;

    Black Level Shift - On
Chroma, Gamma, Sharpness all at 0
    and DCDi is ON

    The plasma is set as
    Contrast -6
    Brightness +6
    Colour 0
    Tint -3
    Sharpness 0
White Balance is Normal (Cool and Warm whats that all about?)
    Gamma 2.2

I really don't think there is a holy grail on settings wherby suddenly you fiddle about and go bloody hell what a difference. But I gonna keep trying! :smashin:
