Hi everyone...another tuff question for u all...

I am from Ireland and have found a website that gives the price for some quality gear and I am wondering if the price quoted is for a pair of speakers or for just one... If anyone has baught these speakers can they tell me roughly how much they paid...

They are B&W CDM1/NT 1,265 euro... This is probably a stupid question but I just need to know If I am aiming my sights too high...

Any help will be greatly appreciated....

CDM 1NTs in this country sell for £750 per pair, which (at today's exchange rate) would be €1050, so I'd say that would be a price for a pair.

    Snuffy,

I too am from the fair green isle and purchased my CDM 1/NTs from the store your refer to (at least their webiste has the same price as that which you quote ;) ).

I bought mine about 6 months ago and am thrilled with them. You can usually get the speakers for a bit less than list price if you accept demo models, purchase with other equipment or turn up on a day when they are feeling generous.

As everyone here says, be sure to demo lots of speakers. I went to the store and spent a good few hours auditioning various speakers from the B&W range for both stereo and cinema duties.

I settles on the 1Nts for their tight, detailed response. They just seemed to seperate the instruments better than the 603s I looked at and also had much better bass definition (though not so good on low frequency output). That was not an issue for me though as the speakers are paired with an excellent Velyodyne CHT-15 subwoofer.

Anyway, there's lots to consider when buying speakers and you can gain a lot of information from reading here, doing searches on the archives and generally asking questions.

If you want to chat about the 1NTs some more, PM me and we can swap e-mail addresses and phone numbers.

    Good luck with the search!

    Peter

<edit> Just to confirm and answer your question, the price quoted is indeed for a pair) </edit>

don't buy them in this country!!

If you have a car or a mate can give you a lift, pop up to Northern Ireland, and you get UK price!

    I got mine from www.theflicks.co.uk

I live in Northern Ireland and got my Nautilus 803's from Cloney Audio. They offered me a better price for Nautilus 803's/HTM1 than any dealers in the Uk.

Plus you have the reassurance of knowing a return is only a short distance away if anything goes wrong.

Also, I find it's good to build a relationship with a dealer. You'll be around there a lot demoing equipment etc. and as you build a relationship, the dealer gets to know your requirements.

I find it worthwhile to spend those few extra pennies to get a good level of service, knowledgable staff and peace of mind.

Cloney Audio run (or at least participate in) the Dublin Hi-Fi show each year. I thnink it's around October and is a Fantastic place to see all the options and even strike a deal!
