I have the chance to buy an Ex-Dem Denon 1602 for under £200. It has 5.1, DPLII and 70w per channel, favourable review in HC Dec 2001.

Any (un)happy users of the 1602 to offer advice.

I am presently stuck in the pre-5.1 world and need to jump in sometime.

    I was reckonning on spending around £350 +/- £150 depending on ....

This seems like the entry level. Views?

thx for advice Oli, but I went for the 1602 as part of a Clearance sale bundle of stuff. That gets me into tbe 5.1 world. When I have learnt and prices on this/next year's models have tumbled, I will look for a more musical upgrade - but at the moment the 1602 has all the AV features I need.
