    Try the Toshiba SD210E. circa £170 (www.empiredirect.co.uk).

I've had this now for 5 months, no probs - has DD/DTS, plays VCD/SVCD on CDR/CDRW and also has MP3 playback.

I use for movies (obviously!) and am in the process of transferring my old back catalog of VHS to VCD.

It's not multi-region out of the box, but "mod" can be had for around £40 - well within your budget.

    Cheers matey

cheers for the bump i had given up hope a bit.
as our friend laurel says, the tosh does it all for not much wonga but for some reason i have a dislike for the tosh and i dont know why, maybee it's the price? it is too much player for the money.....where is the catch? also i dont get aroused by the look of the beast.
the player that does hit the spot is the 737 but i feel it might be overkill. it seems to do everything well so is it worth the extra money and will i even know the difference as this will be my first player?
i rang for a price at sound and vision but they dont stock it anymore so any ideas as where to get a pocket pleasing price will be greatfully recieved:)
    cheers all

I know what you mean about the looks of the Tosh :D

I believe the 737 is quite difficult to obtain now, but how about trying the 646A for about £300 - it's got the look and all the gubbins you need.

    Cheers!

Unfortunately, I can't give you a review between the two Pioneers, but I did check out the 646 against the 210E.

I honestly could not choose between the two - and therefore went for the cheaper 210E!

Now I can't honestly see that the 737 could blow these away in the quality department so I'd say you certainly would not spot the difference.

Go for it - it's a good machine!

    Hope this helps.
