Wish they would have a topic called this on the What Hi-fi mag!!!
I have at most £1200 to buy a new tele, I think its going to be a plasma becasue the images on the DLP rear-pro still seem worse than the plasmas at this price range.
Any advice on what models I could look for would be welcome?

    Thanks,

    Hi m8

I your looking for a TV you could pick up an LG 42PX4DV which i believe is HD Compatible , you can get them in your price range from many Online stores , they got very high marks in what plasma mag , theres also a few members on here with them thats eem to be very happy..

If a panel interests you , you could got for a pw8 from av-sales for £1080 delivered , you would need a seperate tuner( freeview, sky.telewest) and sound system for that though

hi at this price range you have if i was you i would not go plasma i would go for a nice LCD or if you want a big screen DLP is the way with £1200.

you can get a sagem 45" DLP HD ready for £1200 and the picture on that thing will be better then a £1200 plasma plus it will be future proof.

    Thanks all,
seek, do you know much about the sagem, cos I was looking at that one but people put me off with all the rainbow effect talk and the bulb runs out soon etc thing. I have read about them but i'm still 50/50 between a £1200 plasma and the sagem DLP
    Thanks,

a close friend of mine has one and he really likes it alot he has not had any problems with rindow effect.

i have seen it running in SD and HD format it is a nice TV it will be much better than a £1200 plasma that is for sure.

like you say the down side is the bulbs need replacing after 10000 hours but if you think about it 10000 is a long time away.

if i only had £1200 and could nto go any higher i would 100% go for the sagem.

go and test it at the shop there will be £1200 plasma there aswell that will help you make up your mind alot better then reading all people horror storys on the forums remember people do not post on forum much when everythin is running great on the tv they only post when things have gone wrong for help and so on.

    Hi
    I'm in a similar situation.
In Rear Projection forum, the Sony 50" KDFe50A12 gets mostly rave reviews, & is under £1200. Is it better value/quality than Sagem ??

If it were me, I'd want to see them next to each other with HD & SD sources before deciding.

If you want to see both Panasonic PW8 and the sagam 45" side by side there will be no doubt which will be the winner hands down .

Also the PW* is future proof " HD Ready " just ad a HDMI Board .

Myself 2 weeks ago was also in the position of buying a new TV plasma or lcd or DPL i made my decision on the Panasonic PW8 after all the reading in these very forums from what other forum members have said about the pW8 and how good it is and now i own one i will also say go BUY one without hesitation you will never look back its the best £1080 ive ever spent.
