Hi,

Having been a PC gamer in the past, I currently don't have what you may call a gaming rig but I am considering an upgrade. However, before I splash the cash I was hoping you guys could name some top games from the last 12 months that I may have missed to reassure me that I am not going to waste my money.

Already on my list of games to play are:

HL2 - Ep1
Outrun
Quake 4
GRAW

I am weighing up the choice of a PC upgrade with buying a Xbox360.

Cheers

Rob

P.S What games are out in the near future that I should keep an eye on?

COD2, Condemened, motogp2, Prey, oblivion should keep you going funnily enough all thesae on pc and x360

Battlefield 2 - still the best

Call of Duty 2 360 version is amazing
FEAR
Half Life 2
Half Life eposide 1
Ghost Recon
SWAT
Far Cry
Oblivion

Prey. It's awesome, and I'm not exaggerating either. ;) You need to play this game.

You'll need to keep an eye on a game called Portal - it's by Valve.

I'd also add Sin: Episodes, Doom 3 (a little long in the tooth but still quite good IMHO) and Tomb Raider: Legend.

...and coming soon:
- Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
- Half Life 2: Episode 2 (with Team Fortress 2 and Portal)
- Resident Evil 4
- S.T.A.L.K.E.R

Currently playing GRAW and I have to say I am far from impressed. The concept has loads of potential and the maps are well designed. The problem comes with the AI as another poster said "the AI really puts the "special" in special forces".

BF2 & it's expansions still keeps me going and is by far one of the best non-subscription online games at the moment.

Games to look forward to :

BF2142 - The next Battlefield installment.
HL2 EP2 - More interested in TF2 which comes "free" with it.
Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn Of War Dark Crusade (Expansion)
Star Wars Empire At War: Forces Of Corruption (Expansion Pack)

Now all I need are another 5 hours in the day :lease:

bf2
call of duty 2
football manager 2006 (2007 coming soon)

Also the benefit of loads of mods etc for bf2 and others that you can download and play.

Titan Quest
HL2
Portal
BF2
Bf1942 - Desert Combat mod
Quake wars - October?
Command and Conquer 3

gotta argue there !! i hated it, borrowed, installed, tried for 20 mins and uninstalled.

physics felt wrong, and i thought that there were many games which put it to shame.

(hot pursuit was a far better game in the franchise imo)

Quake Wars is coming out next year now.

Ah I see, due for release in 2007, I thought I'd missed a C&C game for a minute there :)

yer ra3 and quake wars are games to consider for Christmas or soon about

maybe also consider good online games

Call of duty 2 maybe even though i havent played it (apparently morre noob friendly than CSS if you dont like uber geeks like me who play it all day)

Is FEAR anygood and if I have already installed Half LIfe 2 on my old PC can I install it to my laptop as well?

Fear is great if a little bit short, I think you can pick it up in GAME for £16.99. The AI is some of the best I have ever seen, in fact it's little too good.

Just don't play it in the dark

..oh and there's an expansion coming out soon.

FEAR is brilliant. love it, i just hope the expansion has a little more varied level design.
