What % of your TV is time shifted? And is it just so you can skip the ads?

After just taking up the SKY+ service I'm curious as to how many people time shift progs so as to avoid the ads.

I've noticed recently that more and more US programmes are so laden with ads it's almost impossible to watch them any more - stuff like Battlestar, Lost, Desparate Housewives, Nip/Tuck etc.

The amount of ads is doing me & my family's head in big time!!!!

Hopefully the SKY+ will help my sanity return.

    I time shift everything.
I can't remember when I last watched something live.

Even something I'm keen to see, I'll wait 15/20 minutes so I can zoom through the ads.

It may sound sad, but I really couldn't do without my Sky+. :)

I record everything but for none of the reasons in your poll. I do it to watch things when it's convenient and I'm usually a couple of days behind the transmission. I do skip adverts though.

Our viewing habits normally dictate that we miss the 2100 start of many of our chosen programmes anyway so record / time shift in invaluable.

On those times we we watch 'live', we get frustrated having to watch the ads (or fill in the time) until the programme starts again. Like a previous poster, US ad breaks are the worst - just download an episode of 24 / Lost / etc and you will see the actual content is 42 minutes !! So uyou have to endure 18 mins of something else.

    Regards

Yep, I tend to do that as well, even to the extent of say overlapping by 45 minutes if there are three programmes I'm going to watch back to back.

Only live tv I tend to watch now is sport or the bbc

    You need another catergory:-

'Do you time shift only your favourite programs ?'

Anything we record (do you still use that team ?), we do rattle through the ads - as there is no point in watching them. However there are certain programs which we deliberately record to watch 15 minutes later - in order to spin through the ads, such as 24, Lost etc. I wouldn't say that we do it for all programs recorded, which may be just for convenience or timing, but we do this for some.

Don't know whether I have made that clear ???
