Besides compatability arguments are there any differences between DVD -R +R & -RW +RW? Quality, longevity, speed etc

The media will be for a Panny DMR EZ45 and only ever used or played in that player.

So can DVD-RAM discs. The quality is better and they last longer. They are more expensive than DVD-RW but probably worth it due to their longer lifespan.

They are also handy to use for time shifting. DVD-RAM acts similar to a hard drive (altho' at 4.7GB a very small one I will admit). Have 5 Panasonic dvd recorders, oldest DMR-E85H around 70 RAM discs, hundreds of DVD-R. I have never used, nor do I have a single DVD+R, DVD-RW or DVD+RW.
