In the scenes shot in the shopping mall car park in BTTF, where Doc gets shot and Marty escapes the terrorists in the DeLorean, does anyone know which mall was used for filming.

It looks very like the Florida Mall in Orlando with all the JC Penny logos (if any of you have been there, you'll know what I mean), but then again, they probably all look the same.

IIRC, it was the 'Twin Pines' mall (later - or was it earlier - renamed to the 'Lone Pine' mall) in Hill Valley.

    Oh.....that isn't what you meant, is it?

I'm not 100% certain but I believe it's the same mall used for the 1st car chase in the blues brothers. Anyone confirm this?

All the malls in florida look the same (apart from the tourist trap "outlet malls") - they have department stores at each end (jc penny & sears) and the same shops in the middle. Pretty boring shopping experience if you ask me. I don't know if it's like this all over the US, but they do look like the one in back to the future. The malls popping up all over the UK are very much like this (except we have marks & spencer and john lewis instead), but most of them are in the center of town whereas the ones in florida are just dotted around.

I have to say I enjoy the American shopping experience. So much infact that I go out once a year and do all my clothes shopping in one go. And I have to say the Outlet's are very good value for money.

And as to the locations it depends where in the US you go but generally you will find malls just dotted around.

Back to the original question !!!!!

If you really look, there is no way it could be the Florida Mall !!!

There is 'too much' car park space in the movie. In the Florida Mall the car park spaces are all in lanes, with little verge type divides between them.

Am i sad or what ????

Well, i have been to the USA for the past 13 years or so !!!

Me too, I love them and do my shopping there each year.

The Great Mall, Milpitas, California

Westfield Valley Fair, Santa Clara, California

Fashion Show Mall, Las Vegas, Nevada

Stuff costs less than half the price it does here.

it was the dixie square mall in harvey, ill. it was about to get demolished, which is why they could use it for the movie

and on the subject of malls, the mall in mallrats (THE premier mall movie) is the eden priarie mall in eden priarie minnesota, just outside of minneapoils, and just along the highway from prince's paisley park studios where kevin smith shot the unreleased documentary in june 2002 which he talks about at length in the "audience with" dvds. i think the laserdisc commentry for clerks was recorded in mpls whilst shooting mallrats. the mall has since been upgraded, not that you would have recognised it in the first place as they used fake store signs. it's a boring crappy mall, particularly compared to the mall of america, the worlds biggest mall in mpls itself (tho i hear there is now an even bigger mall somewhere)

does anyone else have any great mall movie facts? :D

(you tell tell it's a boring tuesday huh)
