Are you using an AV Amplifier/Receiver or going to go direct to the TV?

SCART RGB connection would be the normal connection for a SKY (non HD) box (make sure you set the SKY box to output RGB or you will get a composite output *shudder*). It is an analogue signal so a good quality lead should improve the picture, for simplicity ensure it is a fully wired cable. Personally I use a QED SQART P21 cable, which would set you back about £25 for 1m, that is really the top end of what I would spend on a SCART cable.

If your DVD player has a HDMI socket then use that, it is a digital connection so lead isn't as important. If it doesn't have one use component (you will need an audio cable as well), if it doesnt have component use SCART RGB as well.

If your DVD player is a cheap one you had better double check to see if it has HDMI out, I doubt it. WHY NOT GIVE MAKE AND MODEL it's stops the guess work.
In the Picture settings on your SKY box set to RGB not Pal and 16:9 not 4:3.

If you are going to a high street store don't let them sell you some stupidly overpriced monster cable.

Personally I'd get your cables online http://www.tvcables.co.uk/ is a good place to start.

Don't forget to check your Sky box is set in the Settings.Picture to output RGB (not PAL) and 16:9 (not 4:3)

Number of times I've seen this set wrong is depressing.
