Just got myself a Canon HV20 but am confused what kind of tapes I should be using and if theres any difference.

Should I be using plain mini dv tapes or HD mini dv tapes ?

    Thanks guys

This is a frequently asked question.

Any good DV tape will do. The tapes sold as HDV tapes are made to a higher spec which makes them more resistant to "dropouts". Dropouts are more significant with HDV as you can lose half a second of video if you get one, as opposed to 1/25th of a second with DV.

But... most people find dropouts are rare and are fine with a good DV tape like Sony Premium.

If you are worried about it, or shooting something highly important, you could consider buying the HDV tapes.

No FAQ, but quite a few posts. Also feel free to ask questions!

I would perhaps put a few posts in the FAQ but the technology is evolving so fast that they would soon be out of date..

There are however some very helpful posts which answer frequently asked questions .. they are good candidates . If anybody has any suggestions pls feel free to put them across

This shouldn't stop anyone from feeling free to ask.

However it would make it more interesting here if the threads don't seem like clones when a thread seems to have been started where a simple search of most recent threads would have helped
