What is TVPlus on Samsung TVs? Is it like Freeview (ie OTA channels) or something different?

Samsung have not / will not pay to test and certify their TVs for the latest Freeview spec that includes the backward EPG/catchup - called Freeview Play
Freeview Play demands a specific user interface and that may be one reason for their decision.

Hence they do something else . The 7-day forward EPG is non-proprietary and their sets likely conform to the previous Freeview HD specs, including HbbTV for smart stuff.

Google and read this forum and others (inc Samsung's own!) wrt this TVPlus 'feature'.

Also go to John Lewis and get the sales staff to show you how to tune in the Freeview channels, and operate the TV. Have a good long demo of it - maybe compare it in operation to another brand?

(I always recommend people try TVs in person, handling the remote may be enough to say "nope, won't do!" - let alone stuff like viewing angles and sound quality...)

Thanks for the reply Rodders, that's a very helpful response and way clearer than anything else I've found by Googling!
